Natural Makeup Remover – Week 5 plus Conclusion

Well that never went to plan! This post should have been out at the end of November but the Etsy shop went crazy so I had to concentrate on getting orders out and maybe seeing my family a little bit πŸ˜‰. Everything’s back to normal now so let’s talk makeup removers.

Handmade Haven, natural makeup remover, sweet almond oil, diy Makeup remover, vegan makeup remover

The sweet almond oil worked just like the sunflower oil, as it’s quite a thin oil. It would definitely work better with muslin or flannel, and I had intended to actually make myself some (I use hemp or the flannel/towel mix at the minute) but orders came first. I’ll treat myself this month πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. Anyway, I used more oil than I’d have liked because of its consistency, but it removed the makeup, and the pads washed well afterwards.

Price per bottle Β£7.96 for 1 litre from Mystic Moments.

Conclusion

Price comparison (Boots No 7 as the ‘norm’ – Β£7.50/100ml – 75p/10ml 😳)

  • Organic Coconut oil – Β£2.29/300ml – 8p/10ml
  • Sunflower oil – Β£1.10/1000ml – 1p/10ml
  • Olive oil – Β£2.35/500ml – 5p/10ml
  • Sweet almond oil – Β£7.96/1000ml – 8p/10ml

You’d definitely use more of the sunflower oil and sweet almond oil each time, making those more expensive.  You’d use less of the coconut oil making it last longer, plus there’d be less waste.

My winner

handmade haven, experiment with natural oils as makeup removers, coconut oil

I don’t think you’re surprised really πŸ˜‰  I love that it is solid so I barely use any.  I love the smell.  I love that it is organic.  I love that there are NO nasties, and it comes in a glass jar.   I love that I don’t drip it anyway while trying to get it on the pad. I love that Aldi have it at Β£1.99 at the minute making it even cheaper!

Have you tried any? What did you think? I’d love to know ☺️

Who Gives A Crap?

I’ve seen a few posts about this amazing business but I wanted to share my own experience. At the beginning of the year I saw a friend on Facebook had shared that she’d tried these loo rolls that were made from recycled paper rather than trees. I thought this was awesome so I went to investigate. Turns out that not only do they use recycled paper, they also give 50% of their profits to charities that help build toilets and improve sanitation across the world. A-m-a-zing!

Who Gives a Crap Toilet Rolls, Recycled Paper, Profit-for-Purpose. Handmade Haven's supply.

Did you know that more people in the world have mobile phones than toilets?! I didn’t either.  Two children a minute die from diseases caused by poor sanitation.  Comparing those two facts is beyond shocking.  I didn’t hesitate in signing up. We have a 12 week rolling subscription, where a box of 48 rolls (wrapped in paper, not plastic) are delivered to the house.  It’s great.  Someone said to my Hubby that ‘you can get cheaper loo rolls you know’.  Hmm…it’s not about the money though.

If you’d like to give them a try, pop over to their website and have a browse yourself.

(I’m not gaining anything from Who Gives A Crap for this post, I’m sharing their ‘profit-for-purpose’ values as I believe in what they do)
